Find Your Passion

Find Your Passion

What is the differentiator of those who love their jobs and those who don’t? Passion! Nothing is perfect, and everyone can have a bad day at work. I think everyone at some point will admit they feel that they are on the hamster wheel known as “life.” Getting up, going to work, running errands, going home – repeat; day in and day out. Your profession usually encompasses a lot of your time, and if you are not feeling the love, it can cause resentment, fatigue, and even depression.

Think about it. Starting in high school, everyone constantly asks, “What University are you going to?” or “What are you going to major in?” And so, it begins. You must try and figure out at 18 years of age what you want to do as a career, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! It’s like buying a lottery ticket! Only a lucky few will get the winning numbers and identify their career path right out of the gate.

As you seek to establish your career, understand that your passion doesn’t necessarily have to be only for your job! Here are some thoughts that might shed light on the bigger picture.

The glass is half full, and life is short

A positive attitude will make for a brighter life and help make everyone want to be around you. People gravitate towards positive attitudes, not negative ones. Look for the good in life and on the job – no matter how small it may seem. A study done in 2019 found that a positive attitude may even increase your lifespan by up to 15 percent!

Take pride in your work

Anyone can make a shallow effort at something. How boring! Your reputation is at stake, and people are watching. Why wouldn’t you put your best effort forward and take pride in what you do? It isn’t about the job; it’s about YOU. You may not love what you’re doing every second of every day, but you can still be proud of the work you do!

Be confident in your life

Confidence in knowing who you are is essential to success. Stand firm, and don’t compromise your values! You can’t be passionate about life if you are like a blade of grass swaying in the wind. If you can’t make a decision or stand your ground, it will make for a very dissatisfying life.

Your job or career can’t make you happy, confident, or instill a positive attitude; that is on you! Find your passion!
